Business process mapping, does it have an important role to play in the emerging global supply chain? I read about it in an article. But was not satisfied with the explanation. Your views will be appreciated. Thanx
Of course. In the emerging global supply chain, BPM is a very essential tool. Supply chains have become highly complex as a result of globalization. Supply chains will become more and complex, as new technologies that enable quicker sourcing and visibility become available and gain traction. To effectively utilize new technologies and to capitalize on global sourcing, corporations will need sophisticated BPM tools that enable collaboration across partners (Beyond Tier 1).
BPM offers you tools to map business processes. However, with new ‘flattened’ supply chains, these business processes now need to be mapped across organizations and across business partners i.e. beyond the four walls of your organization and even beyond the four walls of partner organizations. So, traditional Business Process Modeling needs to extend to become 'Network Centric' and enable multi-partner collaborative processes.
