As the evaluation process has started, it's interesting to go through the various submissions. There are several teething issues surfacing as we go on with the process. Of course, they become "to do list" for the next year ;-)

Interestingly, few nominations are being considered for multiple categories. There are cases wherein submission have been in the wrong category. So, you see so much of work for the jury members ;-)




The evaluation criteria are grouped in to 2categories.

Category I :

In the first category, we have set of common evaluation checklist:
1.How do you rate the problem being addressed in this project?
2. Concerns of different stakeholders are being addresses or not?
3. Use of framework (de factor or de jure etc)
4. There is well defined taxonomy ( domain, business, technology)
5. Well defined architecture centric process
6. Well defined set of architecture artifacts
7. Well defined performance indicators & metrics for measurements
8. Architecture governance
9. Perceived business benefits
10. Innovativeness of the Architecture Work
11. We also look at if the work ( submitted) add to the advancement in Architecture discipline

Category II - specific to each award

In addition to the category I, we also have category specific criteria e.g fro SOA award category, jury members will look at issues like:

1. Process mapping
2. Service granularity
3. Service performance auditing
4. Standards-based discovery
5. % Reuse
6. Estimated cost savings due to reuse
7. Message-level security, payload inspection
8. Policy creation,
management
9. Use of software componentization for services


While for ITSM, we will be look for indicators such as :
1. Support for fully documented SLAs
2. improvement of incidents solved within SLA time
3. is it tied to process improvement
4. reduction in the cost of service
5. services covered by SLA
6. services delivered without agreed service targets
7. Well defined governance objectives

I know it's going to be very difficult for the jury members to arrive at the winner in each category. Will keep you updated as the days pass.

Why Architecture Excellence Awards?

The idea is to honor architects & enterprises whose work demonstrates a combination of talent, vision & workmanship, which are creating successful and enduring systems & enterprises. Also, this will be a great opportunity to highlight various interesting and remarkable works being done across the world and bring them to the notice of the global audience.


These international awards will be conferred each year on architects and organization for significant achievements in the field of Enterprise and IT Architecture. The awards will be presented at a ceremony held during iCMG Architecture World conference. This is our first year, and the stakes are higher. this year's award competition, you will find some new award categories, few revised rules and of course and increased size in the jury. Not to mention, we will have to adhere to the submission dates.This year we will be presenting awards in total of 26 Awards in 22 categories
